Point Defiance is the jewel of Tacoma. At 760 acres, Point Defiance is a close second to Central Park in New York City (843 acres) in terms of scale, beauty, and features. Besides the expansive park, rose garden, unadulterated old growth forests, and public beach front, there is a world-renowned zoo and newly remodeled aquarium too! (The people who built Monterey Bay Aquarium are the ones who re-did this one.) Don't forget about the new Dune Peninsula Park, replete with walking trails and slides. Point Defiance even has a boutique commercial corridor on Pearl, with great destinations like the Antique Sandwich Company and Coles Bar and Grill.
Driving Directions“Your very own urban oasis!”
Point Defiance Park is a place you can get lost in for days. I've lived in North Tacoma all my life, and there are still new trails I am discovering. Check out the newer Dune Peninsula too, along with the world-class zoo and aquarium.
Owen's Beach and the Ruston Way waterfront are practically in your backyard. A marvelous place for a stroll, a barbecue, or even more adventurous activities like scuba diving or kayaking.
The homes near Point Defiance are typically early-to-mid 20th century in vintage.
Around Pearl and 51st, stop by the Antique Sandwich Company for some tasty treats, Cole's for a nice IPA, or Macaluso's for some premium Italian.
